My Take on Poughkeepsie Enhanced App

Debra has defiantly raised the bar for readers immersing themselves into a book. I know some of you out there listen to music sometimes when your reading but this takes it to a whole new level. Each song goes hand in hand with story and let me tell you it just ramps up your emotions more. It's absolutely amazing. I am still reading Poughkeepsie but just am in awe over the story. This app is defiantly not the interactive books that your kids read. And if your like me you want to know how in the heck did one person come up with such awesomeness. Now you have Debra's commentary on the book in this app. I just can not say enough how awesome this is to be able to connect with Livia and Blake through the different features of this app. If you have already read Poughkeepsie then you are in for one Hell of a treat. I can't wait to finish going over the rest of the features on this app. Awesome job Debra for bringing a whole new meaning to "Bringing Books to Life"

Legendary Blog Tour Day 2

Morning Addict's

Today is Day two in L.H Nicole's Legendary Blog tour and yours truly is up today along with The Irish Banana. So without further delay. Let's get this party started.

Synopsis

Aliana Fagan spent her childhood traveling the world, dreaming of legendary heroes and mythical lands. But after the sudden death of her parents, she hides behind the safety of her camera and her art until a vivid dream has her to digging into her father's research about Avalon and Camelot. She is soon hurled into a magical realm by forces she thought were only the stuff of fairy tales, and finds herself thrown into an adventure she could have never imagined. And nearly everything she thought she knew about the Arthurian legends is wrong.

The independent eighteen-year-old is shocked to find that the people of Avalon think that she is the Destined One, the only person who can summon King Arthur back to life. Most surprising of all is that it's up to her to lead the Knights of the Round Table on an epic quest—an adventure that will transport them across the seven magic realms to reclaim all that has been lost so they can defeat the evil Mordrid for good.  But first, she must bring the ancient warriors into her world and reunite them with their lost brothers. But chaperoning legendary knights-with-a-chivalry-complex is a constant challenge, and she certainly never thought she'd be caught between her intense feelings for the noble Sir Galahad and her growing friendship with the King.

To fulfill the prophecy, Aliana will have to discover the meaning of friendship, bravery, loyalty, true love, and forgiveness. But can she do it all in time to save the realms from Mordrid's impending Armageddon?

Excerpt

As she circled the stairs, she saw that not only were there steps leading upward, another set also descended. The outer edges of both sets of the winding stairs were crumbled and cracked, as if some kind of railing had been violently torn away.
“Somehow going up seems like a bad idea,” she whispered, hoping the sound of her voice could help brush aside the dead air and calm her racing heart.
The light from the torches only penetrated so far through the gloom of the wide lower stairs. They looked stable enough, but the darkness had panic rising in her chest again. She imagined the walls closing her in, trying to trap her below in the dark forever. Shivering, she decided to risk the upper stairs.
Slowly climbing several steps, she kept as close to the inside edge as she could, avoiding the cracked stone pieces. On the last few steps, the stones had started to scrape and shift against each other. Heart in her throat, she climbed to the next step. The one behind her crumbled away, leaving only a stump of stone attached to the pillar. Gently, she tapped the next step with her foot. Nothing happened, so she stepped onto it, and just as she did, it disintegrated. Throwing out her hands, she just barely caught the edge of the next step and dangled above the floor twelve feet below her.
With all the strength she could muster, she tried to pull herself up, but she felt her grip slip. Struggling to hold on, she heard another crack sound from under her fingers and her heart shook. But she couldn’t let her fear rule her. From this distance, she could hit the ground without getting hurt too badly, but once there, she’d have to be quick to get away from any crumbling stones that might rain down.
Letting go of the step, she held her breath and bent her legs, bracing for impact with the floor. She hit the ground harder than she had expected, and the air rushed from her lungs. Her legs buckled, her foot rolling over a small chunk of littered stone. Using her momentum, she tucked her body and rolled to the side. Rough stone scratched against her arm. Her abused hands grabbed at the floor as she rolled to her knees, bracing her feet against the ground.
“Son of a biscuit.” Looking around, she expected to see the Sidhe surrounding her, awakened by the sound of her fall, but none came.
Panting, she glanced up to where she had been. Too many steps had fallen away and there was no way she was going to be able to go up now. She wiped the sweat from her brow with the back of her shaking hand, breathing through the adrenaline rush. Her palms and fingers were red and raw. Dust and dirt covered her arms, and a thin stream of blood trickled past her elbow.
Untying her cotton scarf, she dabbed at the blood. The cut wasn’t deep, but it was long. She hissed as she pressed the cloth against the cut but gritted her teeth and wrapped the wound tight. Then she pushed up from the floor, grabbing her cell, grateful it hadn’t been damaged when it had slid from her pocket after the fall.
“Guess the only choice now is down.” Shoring up her courage, she turned on the flashlight app and carefully made her way down the first few steps.
The light from her cell phone lit the narrow stairwell enough for her to see a landing and a door a few steps below. Thankful to have made it safely down the first flight of stairs, she stepped onto the landing and held up her light, studying the heavy, chipped wooden door. Gripping its rusted brass handle, Aliana tried twisting, but it wouldn’t give way. She pushed at the door, then pulled, but it refused to open.
Sighing, she peered down the next flight of steps, hoping to see another landing, but all she saw were dark stairs. Why does everything have to be so dark? I mean, these things are magical! Why don’t they have magic little balls of light in here? She scowled. Suck it up, girl! As long as her cell phone didn’t go out, she’d be all right.
She made it to another landing with another door, and like the first, it refused to open. She continued down the stairs, surprised that the panic she had felt was slowly ebbing away. At the third level down, there were two doors, one on each side of the stairs, including a small one that led into the pillar. She tried the bigger one, which was in the same disrepair as the others, and like the others, it refused to open for her.
The door in the pillar was less damaged, but it also felt different from the others. Wondering what kind of room would be in the middle of a pillar, Aliana picked up the ringed door handle and was surprised when it turned for her. As the door opened inward, a wave of hot air hit her. Its scent reminded her of a hot spring she’d visited with her mother years earlier.
Sticking her head inside, she saw that the room was small and round, lit by several old-fashioned lamps hanging from the walls. She slipped into the room, quietly closing the door behind her and sliding the lock into place. Resting her suddenly heavy forehead against the rough wood, she closed her eyes and took a breath as the last of the adrenaline in her system burned off.
Her eyes shot open again as a deep, rumbling growl came from behind her. Please God, No!

My Review

4 1/2 stars out of 5

Aliana Fagen is not your normal 18 year old. She is destined to break a curse to wake up the once and future King Arthur. Aliana has no clue what adventure she is about to embark on to help save the world from the evil Mordrid.

Legendary for me is a book that you can sit and devour in one sitting. Author L.H Nicole bring a totally different spin on the Legend of King Arthur and his Knight of the Round table. By bringing them into this present day and age instead of transporting the main character into the past, as previous books and movies have done. I love how Aliana can hold her own against chivalrous men who only want to protect her and make sure she is out of harms way instead of letting her fight. Her witty humor and devotion to her friends will have readers easily connecting with her don't believe me here's a quote from Legendary“I don’t know who you really are, but if you know all you hint at, then you should know not to mess with me or my friends.” ~Aliana . Dagg is absolutely my favorite character with his snarkyness. I just love his interactions with Aliana <3.

Now on to the real issue I have with this book. L.H has me torn between wanting to be on Team Galahad and Team Arthur lol. I know I know I shouldn't have been serious but im just saying. Both of them are so swoon worthy. You will get to see Aliana's reaction to when she first meet Galahad (fans self) but what's a girl to do when you have two hot guys trying to protect you from a great evil.

And speaking of Evil. Mordrid wow is all I can say L.H has put together a really great villain that you would love to hate. And I do mean love because Mordrid is also a total hottie in a dark broody way(click here for mordrid's character sketch

This is an awesome book to take you away from reality for a few hours. Trust me Legendary will suck you in with it's epic storyline and plot twist.

and as an added bonus here is the Prologue for Legendary

Welcome DynoMoon to the House Of Books

Hey Addicts

I have some awesome news to report to you. Now I have been thinking about expanding the blog(adding on another reviewer) to help me out. Since I rarely review YA I figured my friend would be a perfect fit to join the House Of Books for she is addicted to YA books, Also I know some of you do read YA and figured you guys need your own corner on the blog. So I have enlisted a good friend of mine(who's real identity shall remain anonymous) But you all can call her DynoMoon. Come out and say Hello to our fellow Book Addict's Dyno
Hi everyone! ***waves like a crazy girl***
I'm so excited to join my friend MissLittleBookAddict on her blog! Now don't let her niceness fool you, I totally bugged her to let me join--mostly because I want her access to ARC's of some of my FAV YA series! The first one she go me is the final book in Jennifer Estep's Mythos Academy series. Now this review is just for the 6th and final book, I will be back soon with a review of the whole series.
I’ve battled the Reapers of Chaos before–and survived. But this time I have a Bad, Bad Feeling it’s going to be a fight to the death … most likely mine.

Yeah, I’ve got my psychometry magic, my talking sword, Vic–and even the most dangerous Spartan on campus at my side, in Logan freaking Quinn, but I’m no match for Loki, the evil Norse god of chaos. I may be Nike’s Champion, but at heart, I’m still just Gwen Frost, that weird Gypsy girl everyone at school loves to gossip about.

Then someone I love is put in more danger than ever before, and something inside me snaps. This time, Loki and his Reapers are going down for good … or I am.

I wanted to start this by saying how much I love this series. Ever since I picked up the first book ‘Touch of Frost’- when it first came out- I have loved all the crazy, action, drama filled goodness that is the Mythos Academy. Since then I have been addicted and eagerly jonzing for the next book to come out. I nearly fainted when MissLittleBookAddict told me she had got an ARC copy! Thank you!
Following her rating system I give this sixth and final installment of the series 4.5 stars out of 5. Here’s my breakdown:
Characters: Loved! As always, but I feel like I saw the growth I wanted in Gwen and Logan- our heroine and hero- but we didn’t get to see much in the way of the other characters who I love just as much. I just wanted more from them.
Action: as evident in this series and J. Estep’s other books, action scenes are a specialty of hers, and she doesn’t disappoint! I love reading the battle scenes and fight scenarios because they’re always different.
Pacing: Next to my desire to want more from the other characters this was the element that kept me from giving this a perfect review. Why you ask, simple, I felt there were several parts where we didn’t really get anything that helped move the story along, or add anything to the drama/conflict of the story. Some of Gwen’s internal debates and monologues were just too long for me, I got bored (insert loud Sherlock “bored” shouts here-though minus the gun) and glanced over those parts.
3 Absolute favorite parts: The theft scene! GENIUS! I loved it so much. Also seeing the seeing the griffins again and most of all, Gwen and Logan-or Gypsy Girl and Spartan- as they commonly refer to each other.
Over all this book didn’t disappoint-well almost…. I am disappointed that there’s not going to be any more Gypsy Gewnness. I will miss this series a lot but, that said, guess I’ll just have to go back and re-read all the books over again. And again. And again.

I have yet to meet a J. Estep book I didn’t like, but the Mythos Academy is by far my favorite!

Love's Suicide Blog Tour

Title: Love Suicide
Author: Jennifer Foor
Release Date: March 6th 2014

Synopsis:

My heart belonged to Branch and Brooks Valentine since we were children, when we were all too naïve to know what that even meant. We didn’t understand that when we became adults, love would change us. I had to make a choice and when I did, it ripped our bond apart. Brooks left town, and he took half of my heart with him. It was difficult, but I coped and planned my future with Branch. I thought I’d made the right decision. I loved him and I always had.

Brooks showed up to be our best man the night before our nuptials. After drinks and too much reminiscing, I ended up in bed with the wrong brother. To avoid the humiliation and the fact that I’d ruined all of our lives, I left Branch and the only family I’d ever known. That’s where my story should have ended.

Two years, one beautiful little girl and an abusive marriage later, I was standing there staring at the man that would always hold my heart.

The only question was…

Would I give it to him

I’m Katy Michaels and this is my story.

*My Review*
3 1/2 stars out of 5

Author Jenn Foor brings you into the lives of Katy and her best friends twins Brooks and Branch. This story has so many emotional moments to it that I was left a weeping mess at the end. There are some points to this book that I wanted to slap some sense into Katy but realized that it is all part of Jenn's master plan for her. The decisions she makes at certain times in the book makes sense as to why she felt she had to make the decisions she made. What I love most from this story is the fact that family is there for you no matter what happens and how many mistakes you make. Also that true love really never dies it grows stronger with time.
