Netgalley Review Fangirl_15 by Aimee Roseland

Happy Monday Addict's

Three more day's Addict's til your holiday weekend begins. Luckily the Chef Gods gave me a 3 day weekend and I have one more day to work. I hope you all had a very enjoyable weekend. If you all noticed(or not) I have cut down on doing blog tours. I decided to get back to what I do best read for enjoyment. Doing the blog tours was fun in the beginning but as I started to do more and more blog tours it just felt like a chore more than fun. So I will be doing blog tours but i'm cutting it down to maybe 2 or three a month. I will do a blog tour promo post(it's easier for me and you guys get to read special excerpts). So it's a win win for me and you all.

Now about how I scored Fangirl_15

So this book by cover and title alone intrigued me. So I said to myself what the heck I need to start utilizing my Netgalley account more if I want to really start reviewing/talking about upcoming books and get my cred up due to the reviews I send in. Anyway's the synopsis drew me in and I sent a request to read the book. About an hour later I receive a response letting me know that I have been approved(because I sure as heck thought I was going to be denied lol). But anyways i'm not going to keep rambling lol so here is the book with my review. Hope you all enjoy and as alway's

My reviews are used as a guide just because I like or dislike a book does not mean you should or shouldn't give it a chance! If you liked something that I didn't like then send me a message. I'm always up for a chat :-) and if it's something I loved but you hated still message me to let me know i'm a dork but you must prove that i'm a dork and why lol. It's all love here just wanted you guys to know that and to be fair to all of the hard working authors out there.

Now on to my review!

Synopsis
Chloe is in love with Lucien.
He’s enigmatic, compassionate, generous and intelligent. Likes classical music just as much as kicking ass and knows his way around a kitchen, though he’d never admit it. His Samurai swords are an extension of his personality and a lifetime of heartache has taught him to wield them unfailingly. He’s gorgeous yet humble and can’t see past his own scars. Lucien feels deeply for his chosen family and is absolutely worthy of love.
Sounds perfect, right?
The only problem is that Lucien is a character in a novel.
The Dark Riders is one of the bestselling paranormal romance series of all time, and it was destined to have eight installments, one for each of the brothers-in-arms. Lucien’s story was supposed to be book eight, where he’d finally find true love and live happily ever after. Except the writer died before his story was published. Worse yet, book seven was finished by some poser that thought killing off one of the main characters would bring a more modern twist to the finale.
Chloe is absolutely devastated by the news that one of her “friends” is dead and that the series is canceled. She has a quasi-nervous-breakdown at work and ends up falling asleep in the lounge. Her midnight escape from the locked office lands her in a deserted parking lot after hours where an unseen force has been waiting. Just. For. Her...
The devastating attack strands her in an alternate reality where the Dark Riders are real and the horrible ending created by the publisher hasn’t happened yet.
Chloe decides that she’s been brought there to fix all of the storylines, and tries her best to convince the monsters around her that she’s there to help. She ends up mangling their plots more often than not and now must race the waxing moon to find a way home before Lucien accidentally falls in love with her instead of his destined mate. The Fates are working against her as Chaos interferes and the truth about what really dragged her over threatens to destroy everything that Chloe holds dear.

My Review

out of

I'm really digging the story line. Aimee has taken a book addict's fantasy and turned it into reality for her character in Fangirl. We meet Chloe who is a bit of a hermit. She feels like she doesn't belong and she really does not have any friends(except for coworkers who are her friends on facebook). She is a diehard fan of the Dark Riders series. When the author dies in a freak accident the publisher decided to hire a new author the finish the series. Chloe feels that the book 7 ended the wrong way that  the new author totally missed what the original author was doing. One of the main characters was up next to get his happy ending.

Little did Chloe know she was just about to do that and enter a world that she thought did not exist.

This story line for me was original and refreshing. I have read a book that was not similar but had the same premises. Girl has a favorite book girl get's to live in the books world. But that one was a YA book so that doesn't count lol  It did give me that Black Dagger Brotherhood vibe but I will take that as a nod to JR Ward.  There were some laugh out loud moments in the book my favorite quote or scene was when Chloe is first escorted to her room and she see the bed and say's "He want's a lady in the street but a freak in the bed" lol. One line from one of my favorite Usher song's.

Aimee also showed us a side where when you enter another world. Your not going to be welcomed with open arms. I really liked that the Dark Riders didn't trust Chloe in the beginning. It made it feel real and not let's all welcome the newbie. It took time for the guys and their mates to trust her.  One thing that really frustrated me was the fact that Chloe with good intentions to help Lucien find his mate did not realize that maybe she is his mate. If that was obvious then the book would have ended when she first got to the alternate New York lol. But that's just me being impatient lol.

I did like that Aimee also shared why Chloe felt out of place in the real world and how vulnerable she really is. By Chloe being vulnerable did not make her a pushover at all. She did not hide nor did she run away(even though she did want to a few time). She stood her ground, by doing that she started to gain the trust that she wanted by the Dark Riders.

One thing I did not see was the ending. Wow what a plot twist. It answered a whole bunch of questions I had when I was reading the book. I had a couple of Ahhh moments :-)

I was finished in no time with the book and i'm really curious about the other Dark Riders back stories. I know she touched base on them through Chloe but I would love to read more about them.

But excellent story. I didn't want the book to end which in turn had me scratching my head as to what to read next lol.

This first book I requested from NetGalley so I will be doing more reviews from there along with the ARC request I have recieved. Hopefully my laptop and I will be reunited soon so that I can share all the goodies I have read but first let me get you all updated on this latest read.

Title
Because of Luke(Book 1 in the Lewiston Blues/Black family Saga)

Author
F.X. Scully

Release Date
Feb 28, 2014

Synopsis

Music, love and sibling rivalry…all Because of Luke.

Three years ago, Shannon was a wild child. Parties, boys. You name it, she did it. But she's changed and the only way to truly turn things around is to finish college and hop on a plane to…anywhere else. Until an unexpected encounter throws her off track.

Sheila’s been covering for her big sister for as long as she can remember. Now it’s her turn. But her rebellious plans don’t include small-town fun. She’s got her eye on something better—a group of budding rock stars and a summer-long tour.

In the middle of the sisters lands Luke, a determined college student who’s pretty sure he just met his soulmate. But loyalty to his big brother means leaving her behind to go on a three-month tour with his band. Desperate to get over the girl, he soon becomes entranced with the groupie who’s come along for the ride only to find he’ll have to make a tough choice—and not without breaking some hearts along the way.

** This book contains profanity, alcohol and drug use, and explicit sex scenes. It is intended for individuals 18+ **

My Review

4 stars out of 5

Where do I begin with this one. I'm still reeling over the ending my goodness what a rollercoaster I just got off of. I wanted to message F.X on facebook and say "What The Hell Lady" lol. I just did not see that coming(I actually did but I was in denial) Wholly Shit!!! I though this book was going to go one way and it totally went the other. The plot line was written excellently and the fact that this story takes place in the 90's is also a bonus.

The main characters in BCOL are Shannon, Shelia, Luke and Ross. Shannon and Sheila are sister while Lucas aka Luke and Rosco aka Ross are brothers.  As with the name sake of the title this book revolves around Shannon, Sheila and Luke as the book is told by their points of views. Most books only have one or two points of views. I admire F.X with the multiple points of views and how she keeps everything tied together and not confuse you because of the different POV's going on in the book. This book had me hooked when I first started reading. F.X really know's how to keep someone invested in reading. Like I said earlier my emotions were all over the place. I don't want to ruin the book for anyone but I will tell you that Sheila can be a brat sometimes especially in the beginning. Shannon was a wild girl gone good and is trying to do the right thing. She has a good heart. Luke just wants a regular life and not the one his brother wants for him. Luke feels he owes it to his brother so he just goes along with things and him. I can't wait to read book 2 which is titled Black Out to see where everything goes from here. This book is a must read for those that like unexpected plot twist and a truly emotional ride.

About the Author
F.X. Scully loves romance, but she doesn't write your typical Happily Ever After. Because let's face it, in the real world, it can sometimes take a lot of angst and pain before you get there. And some of us never do. But since most of us pick up books to escape the real world, her stories don't lack hot boyfriends and sexy encounters. Neither will she leave you completely heart broken, sobbing into a tub of ice cream. Rest assured you'll be on a roller coaster, but you'll be glad you went along for the ride.

F.X. is the author of TWO THOUSAND 3 (November 2013), BECAUSE OF LUKE (February 2014),BLACKOUT (April 30) & BLACK ROSE (June 30).

DynoMoon review: Such Sweet Sorrow by Jenny Trout

Hey Addicts! I'm back with another YA review of Such Sweet Sorrow by Jenny Trout

Never was there a tale of more woe than this of Juliet and her Romeo…But true love never dies. Though they’re parted by the veil between the world of mortals and the land of the dead, Romeo believes he can restore Juliet to life, but he’ll have to travel to the underworld with a thoroughly infuriating guide.

Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, may not have inherited his father’s crown, but the murdered king left his son a much more important responsibility—a portal to the Afterjord, where the souls of the dead reside. When the determined Romeo asks for help traversing the treacherous Afterjord, Hamlet sees an opportunity for adventure, and the chance to avenge his father’s death.

In an underworld filled with leviathan monsters, ghoulish shades, fire giants and fierce Valkyrie warriors, Hamlet and Romeo must battle their way through jealousy, despair, and their darkest fears to rescue the fair damsel. Yet finding Juliet is only the beginning, and the Afterjord doesn’t surrender souls without a price…

Rating:   Okay it's more like 3.5 but, hey I'm feeling generous!
 Now Time for the review!

I was intrigued as soon as I read the summary for this YA retelling/continuation of Romeo and Juliet. I was also excited when I realized Hamlet would be a starring character as well. But I was also nervous, imaging that the author may have taken on too much and was going to get things twisted in a way I wouldn't like.
But I was proved 85% wrong. Such Sweet Sorrow is set just after the events of the classic tales of Romeo and Juliet and Hamlet, so the three characters are at very conflicted points and they are pretty much as they were in the original plays.
While I have no problem admitting Shakespeare isn't my first choice to read, Romeo and Juliette is hands down my favorite of his works. Hamlet comes in a close second with A Midsummer's Night Dream. I am constantly drawn to retellings-particularly of Romeo and Juliet-so when I got an ARC copy I was thrilled.
Romeo proved, though still his impetus and slightly immature self, he was determined and very loyally devoted to his Juliet. Juliet was a surprisingly strong heroine and determined to get Romeo out of the underworld alive-even if it meant she didn't. She was a kick ass heroine and I love how she grew and progressed as a character throughout the book. (I would say that her character was the best part of this book. And is why I ended up giving this book a higher rating then I originally suspected I would, when I started reading.) And Hamlet, well he was confusing at first – he has two very different sides to him – but ended up being my second favorite character behind Juliet.
The biggest reason this book only got a 3 1/2 star review from me is because I didn't love this book. I like it well enough – but trying to take on Shakespeare is a task not many can pull off. I love you original idea of Such Sweet Sorrow, I just wanted more clarity and a more addicting love story.
But overall I enjoyed the fast-paced blend of Greek Roman and Norse mythology and the sweet romance of this new YA book. But I can't honestly say I would read it again. It was left on a bit of a hazy cliffhanger and I suspect there will be a sequel – which I hope will clarify the ending- and I would read a sequel if only to get the clarity that I don't feel I got from the first book.
However, if you're looking for a book with a nice blend of ideas, adventure and characters I would recommend this book. But if you are a Shakespeare truest you might not be thrilled with where this book takes the stories of these classic characters.
There you go Addicts! Hope you enjoyed this one and I'll see y'all next time :)

Cover Reveal Thin Love by Eden Butler

Title: Thin Love
Author: Eden Butler
Genre: New Adult/Contemporary Romance crossover
Release Date: Mid to Late July 2014
Cover Designed by: Steven Novak @ Novak Illustration
Synopsis

Love isn't supposed to be an addiction. It isn't supposed to leave you bleeding.

Kona pushed, Keira pulled, and in their wake, they left behind destruction.

She sacrificed everything for him.

It wasn't enough.

But the wounds of the past can never be completely forgotten and still the flame remains, slumbers between the pleasure of yesterday and the thought of what might have been.

Now, sixteen years later, Keira returns home to bury the mother who betrayed her, just as Kona tries to hold onto what remains of his NFL career with the New Orleans Steamers. Across the crowded bustle of a busy French Market, their paths collide, conjuring forgotten memories of a consuming touch, skin on skin, and the still smoldering fire that begs to be rekindled.

When Kona realizes the trifecta of betrayal—his, Keira's and those lies told to keep them apart—his life is irrevocably changed and he once again takes Keira down with him into the fire that threatens to ignite them both.

Thin Love - Excerpt

She doesn’t stop him when he kisses her. She lets herself take in the heat of his massive body, lets it work over her skin. She inhales him—his scent, the hot rub of his tongue against hers, along her bottom lip. At first, she thinks she won’t react; that she’ll push back the sensation, ignore how sweet he tastes, how hard he feels against her. But then he holds her arms, leans into her until her back rests against the brick wall behind her and Keira is lost.

Kona still makes low groans in his throat when he kisses her; still has the softest lips, the most demanding, wide tongue.

She can’t help herself. He’s an addiction, her favorite drug. She wants a hit. She wants a million hits of him.

Her hands work up his arms, his immense shoulders and his groaning deepens, becomes a growl of pleasure when she returns his attentions. Their mouths aren’t frantic, but they do match each other. He pushes, she pulls, like always, like habit, and it is a delicious drugging dance; one she didn’t know she’d missed.

She feels the swift lick of disappointment when Kona pulls back, but it disappears with his fingers holding her face and the tips smoothing just over her cheekbones.

“My dirty little rascal,” he says, but he doesn’t return her smile, seems struck by how close they are standing, how easy this has been, to fall back into old habits. It was returning…their reactions to one another were primal, instinctual. Un-fucking-avoidable.

The song ends, but Kona hasn’t stopped examining her face. His breath is still hot and panting over her cheeks. It would be easy, so fucking easy, to let him consume her. Every touch is a recall of all the dangerous, desperate emotions Kona sparked in her. Every look dulls her memory, makes her forget how he hurt her, how he broke the promises he swore he’d always keep.

Kona leans in again, somehow moving closer, another hit that will edge her toward overdose and she stops him. The rational part of Keira’s mind pushes back the sensation of his touch and the embers are extinguished.

“Wait.”

He pauses, but doesn’t move away from her, doesn’t move his fingers from her skin.

“Wildcat, come on.”

“What are we doing?” Keira knows that expression. It hasn’t changed in sixteen years. Kona’s face is calm, but he frowns, forehead wrinkling in his agitation and Keira stops another attempt of his lips against her mouth. She pushes him back, palm flat against that tempting chest. “How’d this happen?”

Kona’s shoulders sag and finally, her skin is free of his touch.

“Memory lane,” he says.

“That’s a dangerous place.”

“If you say so.”

“I can’t do this with you.” She takes a breath. “I can’t ever do this with you again.”

His anger isn’t quick, not the instant snap of frustration she’d always known from him, but there is no humor on his face and despite her small rejection, he hasn’t moved his arms from the brick behind her. “Why the hell not?”

“I told you. We were not good together. I can’t…” Another slow breath and Keira tries to calm, to ignore the sweet scent of his skin. “I won’t be like that again.”

Too easy, she thinks, reminding herself how effortlessly Kona consumes her. Moth to flame, eager to die in the fire. She hated who she was with him, most days. She hated that she forgot good sense, any smidgeon of reason when he was around her. She didn’t like who she’d been at eighteen and it was that girl, that unbalanced, obsessed girl, that Keira had been running from all these years. She wouldn’t let that girl return, not now, not even for Kona.

When she slips out of the cage of his impossibly large arms, Kona reacts, old habits flirting to the surface. He grabs her arm and for a quick second, Keira feels her teenage self return. His fingers are hot on her bicep, licking heat, anger, passion, through her limbs and Keira fears the sensation, hates that she loves it so much, that she’d missed it more than she wants to admit.

Just like that, she’s ready to react, to fight and it takes all Keira’s strength to repress that inclination. “Don’t…”And at her small warning, Kona jerks back, hands up as though she burned him. “You see what I mean? Three weeks and it’s starting already.”

“I’m sorry.” Keira thinks that he might be telling the truth. He fans his fingers through his hair, eyes rounded as though he can’t believe how he’d reacted. “Please,” Kona says, taking a tentative step forward, voice easy, calm. “Don’t leave.”

She doesn’t want to see that expression on his face; the one that tells her he’s different, that his overwhelming presence is no longer dangerous. He’d fooled her once. He won’t get a second chance. A quick shake of her head and Keira turns away from him, tries to focuses on a plane above shooting away from the city, wishing she was on it. Kona’s breath warms her neck and Keira cringes at how much she’d missed this—him, her, the heat, the passion and it is like refusing the best high she’s ever had. She wants it so desperately, wants to forget all his sins just for a moment, just for one small taste of how good he made her body feel. “If I don’t walk away right now, I’m going to kiss you again.”

Kona’s low voice is heady, firm and Keira has to tighten her eyes closed when his fingertip slides down her spine. “I want you to.”

“I can’t. We…no, we can’t.”

“You’re scared,” he says, mouth hot against her neck.

“I’m petrified.” Despite herself, Keira leans back, lets Kona wrap his hands around her waist.

“I would never hurt you. You know I’d never touch you, not like that.”

No, he never had. Not once. She’d slapped him and punched him because she was angry, because they were twisted, because they both got off on it. But Kona had never returned the favor. His wounds cut deeeper.

“You’re no good for me. You were never good for me.” Keira turns, takes a step back so she can look at his face, so she can see how determined he is to change her mind. “I was a crazy person with you. Obsessed. I can’t relive the past.”

“I’m not the same person.” Kona pulls her forward, gripping her waist in his too large hands until their bodies are flush, until Keira can feel the hard, delicious planes of his chest and the corded muscles of his thighs. She knows he won’t hurt her. She knows he won’t let her go. Kona takes her face again, moving her chin so she’s forced to look at him. “You’re not the same, Wildcat and that was a long time ago.”

And then Keira lets that girl sneak to the surface. She lets her take Kona’s mouth, pull his shirt so that her tongue licks against a wide expanse of tempting, copper skin. She lets that girl enjoy Kona’s mouth, his hands, the way he feels hard, demanding against her, until the night darkens, deepens and her rejection, though halfhearted, comes again.

Kona stops pushing, stops demanding and before he leaves Keira out on that balcony, he reminds her why she’d loved him in the first place. He reminds her why she should love him again.

“I only know one thing—no one sets my skin on fire like you do. No one. Not one person has ever made me feel like I’m alive like you. That hasn’t changed, not in sixteen years. Don’t try to pretend it isn’t the same for you.”

Cover Reveal Playing All The Angles by Nicole Lane

TITLE: PLAYING ALL THE ANGELS
AUTHOR: NICOLE LANE
RELEASE DATE: JUNE 10, 2014

Dominic Phillips is an enjoyable distraction from fashion designer Eve D’Amico’s loneliness, but there’s never been anything more between them than hot sex. Since he desires no commitment from her either, it's pretty much the perfect arrangement…except for the fact that he’s dating her sister Isabelle.
Eve’s grown used to being seen as the promiscuous black sheep of her family ever since an unplanned pregnancy at age fourteen, and Isabelle is the only one in the D’Amico clan who doesn’t treat her like a second class citizen. Eve doesn't exactly revel in the idea of hurting her sister if the truth ever comes out.

Just when she starts hitting it off with the sexy new neighbor next door, her world is turned upside-down when Dominic reveals his plans to marry Isabelle. As if things weren’t complicated enough, life decides to throw another surprise her way, and Eve is suddenly trapped with another secret to add to a much more shocking one from her past, both of which threaten to destroy every relationship she's ever hoped to have. She must soon decide whether to reveal the truth and save her sister from a man who’s incapable of commitment, or to keep her lips sealed and secure her own place in the family. For now, though, she will dance around that decision for as long as she can, keeping everyone in check by Playing All the Angles.

Nicole Lane has loved romance novels since she was old enough to sneak them from her grandmother's well-stocked shelves. She grew up reading Judith Krantz, Danielle Steele, and Jackie Collins, sharing dog-eared paperbacks and giggling with girlfriends over all the more instructional passages. She is living her very own, uneventful, happily-ever-after in a sea of sweat socks and Matchbox cars in Dallas, Texas.

“Have a seat, please.” Mathieu didn’t know what to make of the woman settling in across from him. They’d been something to each other once. “Lola tells me you’re in a spot of trouble.”
Lisette chuckled, a deep, husky sound that was music to his ears. “That’s it? Tell me all your problems? No hello? Hi? How you been?”
Mathieu studied her, or more accurately, the woman she’d become. The black knit shirt, jeans and knee-high boots spoke of someone trying not to stick out, and yet she chose to wear a come-get-me red coat. Lisette was in trouble and didn’t know how to handle it. If Mathieu listened to his cock, he’d take her home under the false premise of protecting her from whatever evil had her running. And then she would run from him.
This was a bad idea.
Another woman, not all that long ago, had needed his help. Her pleas for protection, promises of love and affection had dried up. She’d been out of his life barely a year, and he’d gotten drunk at the small apartment he and his dog now called home to celebrate; it had felt sad and pathetic instead.
“It’s getting late. I’d rather we cut to the chase, if you don’t mind.” Mathieu would hear her out, give her some advice and send her on her way. The Babineaux family should be capable of taking care of their own.
Lisette blinked and her mouth worked soundlessly for a moment. She blew out a breath and shook her head, appearing to collect herself. “This is not how I pictured this happening.”

“Right, sorry about that.”
“Yeah, I’m sure you are.” She pointed at his cup. “You drinking that?”
He shook his head.
“Do you mind?”
“Help yourself.” He pushed the cup and pastry toward her.
Lisette gulped down at least half of the cold coffee before setting the mug down with a clink. She sighed and folded her hands on the table in front of her. He smothered memories wrapped in warmth of Lisette doing exactly this little act with her hands a number of times before saying something serious.
“You don’t want to help me, do you?” Her gaze seemed to bore past his skin, straight to his soul, and for a moment, he was back on campus, sitting under the magnolia trees, a blossom in her hair.
Mathieu shook the memory from his mind. He hadn’t seen that girl in a long time.
“It’s not that I don’t want to help you, but it seems awfully odd. Come to a cop, off duty? Wouldn’t it be better if you went to the authorities?”
“You don’t even know what’s going on.” She frowned.
“Exactly.”
“Are you going to turn me down without even hearing me out?” Her voice rose as she spoke until she realized the few other patrons were staring and she ducked her head.
As a police officer, it was Mathieu’s nature and conditioning to protect people, but he’d learned the hard way that damsels in distress were better served within the bounds of the law. He couldn’t pretend he knew better. When it came down to it, he was part of a system of government that did its job when people allowed it.
“I’ll give you what advice I can. I even know who’s on duty tonight.” Mathieu knew this decision was the right one; trying to save her would destroy him in the process. But he hated saying no to those cypress green eyes. It tore something out of him, and God knew he didn’t have much left to lose.

She grew up in a motor-home on the US highways (with an occasional jaunt into Canada and Mexico), traveling the rodeo circuit with her parents.
